Go to God First

“[5] If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. [6] But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. [7] That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. [8] Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.” (James 1:5-8)

There are so many decisions to be made daily. I go to so many people to seek advise and find solution but often not going to God first.

“After all,” I thought, “God can't give me the answer straight away anyway...”

Such thoughts proofed to be disastrous most of the time. Instead of getting a God advice and making a wise move, I failed terribly and had to face the consequences of my bad decisions and taste the fruits of my folly. Although I held on strong to the conviction that if I should “seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness”, the sinful nature of me will always rely on my on knowledge and understanding.

Like the verses said, many times I doubted if God could be trusted in my day to day decision. In the end, no wonder I fail to receive His blessings. As a disciple, I should learn to trust the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding.

Let us not be double minded lest the things we do, whether in our personal life or in Kingdom, goes down the drain and we labor in vain.

Let us put God number 1 today and trust Him wholeheartedly!

Amen!
