Unbiased Love

“[8] If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. [9] But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.” (James 2:8-9)

Favoritism is a sin that impairs our sense of fairness in dealing with people. Sometimes I determined who “deserves” to be saved based on their outward appearance and form a certain judgment towards them. God wants all of the people to be saved, but it is not doing the Kingdom any good if I become judgmental and refuse to share the gospel to everyone.

By showing favoritism, we are not keeping the Commandment and we are not giving glory to God. I think I can do better in loving people and putting away my judgmental thoughts towards certain people, just as God has given all of us an opportunity to know Him.

Amen.
