“[9] Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. [10] But the rich should take pride in their humiliation---since they will pass away like a wild flower. [11] For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.” (James 1:9-11)
These verses remind me of the attitude I ought to have towards worldly wealth. It is also important for me remember not to put too much emphasis on accumulating things that could pass away.
The Bible says that we hold high positions when we are in humble circumstances. I think this something which many people could not understand. I recall the widow who puts two copper coins in the temple and realized that it is when we have close to nothing, that we can only rely on God for everything.
But I don't want to rely God only in my lowest situation. I think God is there for us whether we are in our highs or lows. I need to focus on God instead of the worldly possessions. As it is written that that these things will pass away like a wild flower.
I'm reminded that God is ultimately the Master, any other things come after Him.
Amen...
