Remember the Purpose

“[23] Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror [24] and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” (James 1:23-24)

For me, it is easy to get fired up about scriptures and teachings that are convicting. But most of the times, I ended up doing little or nothing about my convictions and continue in my old ways.

The Bible describes such a person as one who forgets what he looks like after looking at himself in the mirror and walks away.

When we read the scriptures and listen to the Word, we are reminded that we are disciples that owe God and His people a duty to stay righteous and pure.

I am reminded again to walk in the ways of God, not forgetting the purpose which God has put in our lives.

Amen.
